Michigan Restaurant Association Reacts to Earned Paid Sick Leave Ballot Initiative

The Michigan Restaurant Association says a move to require earned paid sick time for employees would hurt their industry.

The Time to Care Coalition is backing the initiative that would allow workers to earn an hour paid sick leave for every 40 worked.

But Justin Winslow of the Restaurant Association says the requirement would make the state less attractive to businesses and notes many restaurants are mom-and-pop type shops that would find it difficult absorb the cost of paid sick leave.
