Plea Agreement Awaited In Standoff Case

A plea agreement appears to be in the works for a Copper City man allegedly involved in a standoff with police in April.

64-year-old Jerome Flum appeared in Houghton County Circuit Court for a pretrial.

His attorney, David Gemignani, said they will have a resolution to present to the court soon.

Flum is charged with making threats of terrorism, three counts of assaulting a utility company employee, and two counts of malicious use of a telephone.

The charges stem from an incident where police say he refused to leave his home after threatening a utility worker then made additional threats to law enforcement.

The standoff lasted for 12 hours.

Flum is expected to enter a new plea when he appears in court again in about 30 days.
