An Atlantic Mine man charged in a hit and run accident was sentenced to jail Monday.
32-year-old Benjamin Riutta had been charged with the felony of Failure to Stop at a scene of an accident resulting in serious injury or death.
Instead, a no-contest plea was accepted to failing to stop at a personal injury accident.
The accident happened in March when police say Riutta struck a 36-year-old woman who was walking down Obenhoff Road in Adams Township with his vehicle.
Riutta was given one year in the Houghton County Jail with credit for time served.
