Senate Resolution Urger EPA Not to Study Gas Grills

Some state lawmakers don’t want a federal study on the environmental impact of outdoor grills.

A resolution is headed to the state Senate that would urge the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to call off a study on barbecues and grills.

Senate Republican Phil Pavlov, is sponsoring the resolution.

He says the study is a solution in search of a problem.

But Senate Democrat Rebekah Warren says the EPA has only spent $15,000 on a student study at the University of California Riverside. She says that doesn’t indicate it’s an EPA priority considering the agency had an $8.2 billion budget for fiscal year 2014.

The resolution passed a Senate committee and heads to the full chamber.
