Group Seeks Clean Air Legislation

A group of clean air advocates including health professionals, moms, dads and grandparents rallied at the State Capitol in Lansing Wednesday calling on state lawmakers to clean up the air children breathe. Officials say using more renewable energy and energy efficiency will reduce pollution and improve the health of Michigan’s kids, families and seniors. Elizabeth Milton, asthma program manager with Better Life Learning, says transitioning from coal to renewable energy will make Michigan a cleaner and healthier place to live, work and play. She notes that almost 10 percent of Michigan’s children and adults have asthma – more than 10 percent higher than the national rate.
