State Drops Load Limits

State Drops Load Limits – May 23, 2014 – Todd VanDyke
Seasonal load limits were lifted on all state trunklines as of 6:00 this morning. State trunklines are generally those highways that have “US” or “M” designations. Restrictions remain in effect on local roads. Houghton County Highway Engineer Kevin Harju says it could be at least two weeks before the ground will stabilize enough to allow trucks to carry full loads. State trunklines are built to a heavier standard than most local roads.
