Steward Needed for Lighthouse

The U.S. General Services Administration has announced that it is looking for stewards to preserve historical lighthouses across the state, one of which is the Keweenaw Waterway Lower Entrance Light. USGSA Regional Public Affairs Officer Cat Langel says the stewardship would be at no cost to any eligible state or local governments, non-profit organizations or historic preservation groups.

According the U.S. Coast Guard, the lighthouse is currently operating. Those who are interested will have 60 days to submit a letter of interest and go through a rigorous application process. If a steward can’t be found, the lighthouse will be auctioned to the public. For more information on how to submit a letter of interest, a link will be available on the Keweenaw Report webpage.
