Calumet Man Headed To Prison For Break-In & Car Theft

A Calumet man is headed to prison for breaking into a business and stealing a car.

Laplander 337-year-old Isaac Laplander was sentenced Monday in Houghton County Circuit Court to two to ten years for Breaking and Entering with Intent, and for two to five years for Unlawful Driving Away of a Vehicle.

The sentences will run concurrently and Laplander was credited for 274 days served.

He was also ordered to pay restitution of $12,500 to Harter’s Supply and $4,452 to the former Kissel Chevrolet, both Calumet businesses that Laplander targeted during an alcohol driven series of crimes last Spring.

As part of the plea agreement reached in January, Laplander paid the restitution in full prior to sentencing.
