Michigan To Get $34 Million For Wildlife Conservation & Recreation

The state of Michigan is getting nearly $34 million from the federal government to help pay for fish and wildlife conservation and recreation.

It’s part of more than $1.1 billion being distributed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

More than $22 million of what Michigan is getting, is for wildlife conservation. The remaining $11.4 million is for sport fish restoration.

The money is distributed under the Wildlife and sport Fish Restoration Program, which is supported through excise taxes on sales of things like sporting firearms, ammunition, archery equipment, and fuel taxes on motorboats.
