Funding For Specialty Crop Projects

Michigan will receive nearly $2 million to support 20 specialty crop projects in the state.

Some of the money will be used by the Hop Growers of Michigan to establish the first quality system specific to hops through an education program that trains farmers and voluntary verification program.

Another project involves the Michigan Apple Committee building its online presence to build a deeper connection between social media involvement and in-store activity.

Michigan U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow says the announcement is great news for growers who will be able to sell more of their products at farmers’ markets and protect their crops from diseases.
