No more late night bridge openings.
That change was shared by Hancock City Manager Glenn Anderson at the city council’s regular meeting Wednesday.
Anderson said MDOT and the U.S. Coast Guard have agreed not to permit openings of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge between the hours of midnight and 4:00am.
Arrangements can still be made in advance to open the bridge for marine traffic.
The bridge had provided 24-hour lift service but the change will help reduce staffing hours at the bridge for MDOT.
