Drug Take Back Day Being Held By Michigan State Police

Have some unused prescription drugs in the medicine cabinet or cupboard?

Michigan State Police along with the Drug Enforcement Administration and other local police departments are collecting drugs tomorrow, Saturday, as part of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

All State Police posts will accept pills, but no liquid medicine, from 10am until 2pm Saturday.

Health experts say unused medicine left in homes often leads to abuse and misuse.

Organizers of Drug Take-Back Day say flushing unused medicine down the toilet or throwing them in the trash can pose safety and environmental hazards.

A similar effort in April led to more than 1,100 pounds of prescription drugs being turned in to State Police.
