Marquette – Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO) provided direct grants and volunteer support valued at more than $104,200 to non-profit organizations, associations and other worthwhile causes across the U.P. in 2016.

UPPCO’s total contribution amount, which does not impact its customers, includes more than $14,000 in donations from employees to the United Way.  The company’s donations were made in five primary categories: Arts and Culture; Community and Neighborhood Development; Education; Environment; and, Human Services and Health. Each year, UPPCO awards such grants to eligible entities located within its service territory spanning 10 of the Upper Peninsula’s 15 counties.

More than 150 organizations representing various interests received funds from UPPCO last year.  UPPCO’s donations came not only from employees but retirees as well.

“UPPCO has always been not only about wires and electricity but helping the communities we serve,” said Keith Moyle, UPPCO Interim Chief Executive Officer.  “It is part of who we are as a company to give back and make the U.P. we have proudly called home since 1947 a better place to work and live for everyone. We are also fortunate to have employees and retirees who invest of themselves as they always have through volunteerism in the community.”
