Snowmobiler Runs Stop Sign Causing Accident

A Wisconsin man is injured after he allegedly ran a stop sign and struck a vehicle.

The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened on Friday shortly after 12pm at the intersection of Gem Hill Rd. and Trail #8.

Authorities say a 2013 Arctic Cat snowmobile, driven by Gene Zettler of New Richmond, WI, was traveling on Trail #8 when he disregarded the stop sign at the intersection of Gem Hill Rd.

He then struck a vehicle driving through the intersection.

The impact caused the vehicle to spin 180 degrees and strike the back of the snowmobile.

The driver of the snowmobile suffered a serious leg injury.

He was transported by Sonco ambulance to Aspirus Grand View and later air lifted to Aspirus Wausau.

No injuries to the driver of the vehicle were reported.
