Arguments will be heard today before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Cincinnati on Michigan’s same-sex marriage ban. A coalition called Michigan for Marriage, which supports overturning the voter-approved ban, held rallies in Warren and Lansing last night. The ban was approved in 2004 by voters, but new polls suggest most people now support allowing gays and lesbians to marry. The Michigan case DeBoer v Snyder, is the only case on appeal challenging a state’s ban on the right to marry.
