Matthew Boyd turned in six strong innings, as the Detroit Tigers got past the Cleveland Indians 4-1 yesterday. Boyd gave up seven hits, but just one run. Justin Wilson, Alex Wilson and Francisco Rodriguez contributed an inning scoreless relief. Alex Avila’s two-run homer in the second inning provided the winning margin. Detroit picked up a couple of insurance runs in the eighth, on an RBI single by Miguel Cabrera, and a bases-loaded wild pitch.

Cabrera

After taking two of three in Cleveland, the Tigers have today off. They’ll open a series in Florida against the Rays tomorrow evening. Michael Fulmer will start against Matt Andriese. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
