Houghton County Reaches Quarterfinals in Energy Competition

Houghton County has moved one step closer in the Georgetown University Energy Prize Competition. This week it was announced that Houghton County has advanced to the quarterfinals of the competition which looks for communities who want to reduce energy consumption. Competition Director Dr. Francis Stakey says the communities they selected are leaders in energy efficiency who will develop innovative approaches that will inspire others to follow in their footsteps. The Houghton Energy Efficiency Team has now scheduled an open meeting on September 17th at 6:30pm to receive input and participation from the community, which is a critical part of the competition. The meeting will take place at the Finnish American Heritage Center in Hancock. To volunteer or learn more about the Houghton Energy Efficiency Team, click here.
