Tourism Group Wants Visitors To Fall In Love With The Porcupine Mountains

ONTONAGON, Mich. (Aug. 7, 2017)—Another beautiful fall is just around the corner in the Upper Peninsula, and the Porcupine Mountains Convention & Visitors Bureau (PMCVB) is giving visitors a chance to enjoy the season on the shores of Lake Superior with a new giveaway.

The PMCVB’s annual Fall in Love with the Porcupine Mountains Sweepstakes, which launched this week and runs through Sept. 17, will award one grand-prize winner with a $200 credit toward a two-night or longer stay at a local lodging property and a GoPro action camera.

To enter, fans can visit the PMCVB’s website, www.porcupinemountains.com, and click on the sweepstakes link or go to the PMCVB’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/PorcupineMountainsMI.

As part of the promotional effort, the PMCVB will also share a new series of fall videos on their website and social media channels highlighting several local attractions. The videos, shot with a drone during the height of fall color season, include footage of Lake of the Clouds, Summit Peak, Lake Superior and other popular destinations in the Porcupine Mountains and Ontonagon County.

O Kun De Kun Falls – Steve Fehlberg

The PMCVB has also announced the winner of its recent Feel the Rush Waterfall Photo Contest.

Nearly 300 photos were submitted in the contest, which encouraged visitors to share their photos of area waterfalls. A fan vote that ran through Aug. 4 helped select the winner: Steve Fehlberg’s photo of O Kun de Kun Falls.

Fehlberg, from Rockford, Ill., will receive a prize package that includes $200 toward a two-night or longer stay at a local lodging property, a recreation passport from the Michigan DNR (for admission to the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park), a copy of Phil Stagg’s Waterfalls of Michigan guidebook and a $100 prepaid credit card.
