2014 Houghton County Fair Kicks Off

For the first day of the Houghton County fair, a large crowd showed up to take in the sights of motocross, big pretzels and farm animals. Seven Copper Country women vied for the title of Miss Houghton County Fair Queen and this year, Hope Gockenbach from Chassell was the winner and she spoke about what the fair means to her.

The first runner-up was Zoe Corser from Calumet and second runner-up was Rebecca Naumenko from Laurium. Today, the Senior Citizens Day Program will take place from noon to 4 at the Indoor Arena as well as awards for the open class exhibits including Homemaker of the Year.
