Epinephrine Training for Teachers

Michigan educators are being trained this month on the use of epinephrine injectors to treat students suffering from severe and potentially life-threatening allergic reactions. Lawmakers earlier this year voted to require all public schools to have two of the EpiPens and two staff members able to administer the dosage starting this academic year. The instruction includes recognizing when a student is having an anaphylactic reaction. Food allergies induce up to half of anaphylaxis cases, according to the National Association of School Nurses.
