UPPCO Working Through Storm To Restore Power

Crews from the Upper Peninsula Power Company are working to restore power to those affected by the latest winter storm.

UPPCO says some 3,200 customers lost power in the Copper Country and Marquette area.

Keweenaw and Houghton counties were the hardest hit.

As of late yesterday, there were still around 800 customers without power and UPPCO crews were responding to new outages as they occurred.

UPPCO is asking customers to report any outages they are experienced by calling their Customer Care Center at 800-562-7680 or online at www.uppco.com.

UPPCO advises people to stay away from downed power lines.  Always assume a downed line is energized.

UPPCO urges customers to be mindful of portable generator safety when using them during system outages.  Always operate portable generators outside and away from homes, garages and outbuildings.

For more information on storm and generator safety, customers are encouraged to visit www.uppco.com.
