Two Arrested After Meth Lab Discovered In Houghton County

Two people are in custody after detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team found a meth lab in Houghton County on Monday.

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Department was sent to a residence on Liminga Road earlier for reports of a suspicious situation and after making contact with the two people at the residence, they observed several meth components.

A 21 year old female was arrested for a probation violation and had tested positive for five different drugs and a 23 year old male was arrested on a three-count felony warrant from an investigation involving the illegal delivery of marijuana by UPSET earlier this year.

Detectives from UPSET obtained a search warrant for the residence and, as a result, detectives seized and removed components used to manufacture meth.

The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are expected.

UPSET was assisted by the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police Calumet Post and Stanton Township Fire Department.
