State funding may help Houghton County roads

Houghton County Road ways may receive some upgrades soon as the result of state funding. A bill is in the works amongst the state legislature what would distribute $175,000,000 to Michigan road ways in the upcoming months. If passed, the county would receive $390, 000 that would be used for adding new pavement or repairing current roads that are in need. Currently the Road Commission maintains 850 miles of roadway, over 300 miles of that are paved roads.
