MLB
The Detroit Tigers collected just three hits in a 1-0 loss to the Kansas City Royals yesterday. On a cold, windy, rainy day in Detroit, Matthew Boyd gave up a run on four hits over six innings, and took the tough loss. The Tigers conclude their series against the Royals this afternoon in Detroit. Daniel Norris will start against Danny Duffy. Pregame coverage begins at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift. The game-time forecast calls for 36 degrees, 25-miles per hour winds, and a slight chance of rain or snow showers.

The Tigers report that starting pitcher Mike Fiers’ back is feeling better. He could make his first start of the season this weekend.

The Milwaukee Brewers used a late surge to edge the St. Louis Cardinals 5-4 last night. The Cardinals took an early lead by blasting two home runs on the first three pitches from Chase Anderson. Anderson gave up two more runs before leaving in the fourth inning. The Crew closed the gap with one in the fifth, and two in the eighth. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Christian Yelich’s solo shot tied the game, and Ryan Braun homered to win it. It was the first game in major league history to start and end with back-to-back home runs.  The Brewers wrap up that home set against the Cardinals tonight. Jhoulys Chacin will pitch against Carlos Martinez.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings couldn’t hold an early lead and suffered a 5-4 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets in Columbus last night.
