Brewers’ Bats Boom – Sunday Sports Wrap

The Detroit Tigers gave up four home runs, and fell to the Chicago White Sox 8-4 yesterday. Three of those homers came off Francisco Liriano, who struggled through five innings, allowed five runs, and took the loss. Jeimer Candelario homered twice for Detroit.

The Tigers will host the White Sox again this afternoon. Blaine Hardy will make another start in place of the injured Jordan Zimmermann. James Shields will counter for the Sox. Pregame coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Zimmermann is schedule to make a rehab start for the Toledo Mud Hens today. He’s been battling a shoulder problem.

The Milwaukee Brewers exploded for their highest run total in eight seasons, as they blew out the New York Mets 17-6 yesterday. Nine Milwaukee players scored at least once, and drove in at least one run. Jesús Aguilar and newly-acquired catcher Erik Kratz homered. Starting pitcher Chase Anderson struggled, giving up five runs before leaving int eh fourth inning. His teammates kept pace, then broke open a close game with three runs in the fifth inning, and seven in the seventh.

The Brewers continue that home set against the Mets today. Jhoulys Chacin will pitch against Zach Wheeler.

NBA
In the NBA playoffs last night, Golden State shut down Houston 115-86. The Western Conference final is now tied 3-3, and will be decided tomorrow night in Houston. The Eastern Conference final will be resolved tonight, when Cleveland plays at Boston. That set is tied 3-3.

Finlandia
Two former Finlandia University baseball players will be staying with the team as assistant coaches. Aaron Froelich will work primarily with pitchers and first basemen. Joshua Gregory will spend most of his time coaching outfielders. For more about the new coaches, click here.
