SOS Race to Close to Call

A new statewide poll shows Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette with a commanding lead over Democratic challenger Mark Totten, but the Michigan Secretary of State race is too close to call. The survey was conducted by Vanguard Public Affairs and Denno Research. Schuette has 40.5 percent support in the poll, compared to 32.5 for Totten. However, the pollsters note that more than 40 percent of independents remain undecided. In the Michigan Secretary of State race, incumbent Republican Ruth Johnson leads, but only by 3.6 percentage points in this poll, 36.3 to 32.7 percent over little known Democratic challenger Godfrey Dillard. Just over 30 percent of voters and 50 percent of independents remain undecided.
