Dianda Applauds State’s Help With FEMA Match

State Representative Scott Dianda says the state’s willingness to split the match for FEMA with local municipalities is a huge help.

Governor Rick Snyder announced on Friday that the state of Michigan will share the cost of FEMA-required matching funds for disaster relief with U.P. communities.

Dianda said the state’s contribution of more than $3 million means our small communities won’t have to go broke in order to recover from the devastating storms and flooding.

The area is still working on cleaning up and rebuilding after intense flooding from catastrophic June rain storms significantly damaged roads, highways, homes and businesses in Houghton, Gogebic and Menominee counties.
