Houghton Changes Ordinance Wording To Allow Dispensary To Continue

Houghton’s lone medical marijuana dispensary will be able to continue to operate after the City Council cleared away an obstacle that could have threatened to shut it down.

The council voted unanimously to amend the city’s ordinance governing marijuana dispensaries to match wording required by the state.

The original ordinance referred to the facilities as dispensaries but the state required it to be changed to provisioning center.

Waara had previously stated that without the council’s approval to amend the ordinance, a local medical marijuana dispensary would likely have to close.
