Rehabbed Snowy Owl To Be Released Sunday In Marquette

Photo of a previous snowy owl release

Harry Potter fans take note!! This is your chance to see a live snowy owl up close and personal.  This Sunday, the Chocolay Raptor Center will release a rehabbed snowy owl.

The owl banged itself into a house in Big Bay, probably chasing one of the herd of rabbits there.  The owl, believed to be male, suffered a bruised wing joint but no permanent damage.

After a week of rest and recuperation, he is in the large flight cage, flying strong and sticking his landings.  After a few more days of conditioning, he should be ready to go back to the Wild where he belongs.

The release will be at the north side of the Superior Dome on NMU’s campus in Marquette at 2:00PM.   All are welcome with cameras and kids.
