A legislative committee in Lansing has begun work on a measure requiring cell phone companies to quickly provide location information if it’s requested by police. The bill is based on laws approved in other states. Sponsors say it speeds up the search for missing or abducted people and has also proven to help those who have immediate medical needs. The bill is before the House Criminal Justice Committee.
