Folk instrument workshops still have available seats

The following press release was issued by the Finnish American Reporter:

HANCOCK — If you thought you missed the registration deadline for the Finnish American Folk School’s Juhannus instrument workshops, don’t worry – the classes will accept new registrants right up to the day of each class.

Finnish artisan Minna Hokka is coming to the Folk School, which takes place at Finlandia University’s Finnish American Heritage Center, to teach the art of crafting musical instruments from materials found in nature. Among the courses she’ll lead will have students learning to make flutes, trumpets, clarinets and other wind instruments. No experience is necessary – just an interest in having fun!

The first event for the Juhannus folk school programming is at 6 p.m. Monday, June 10. For specifics, call (906) 487-7549 or visit Finlandia.edu/juhannus.
