Road Work Continues On M-26 Near Copper Harbor

One lane of M-26 remains closed in Keweenaw County this week as crews finish replacing a culvert 1.6 miles west of the US-41/M-26 intersection in Copper Harbor.

Michigan Department of Transportation contracted crews are completing a $153,000 maintenance project to remove and replace a deteriorated culvert on M-26.

The roadway was reopened to traffic June 7, but one lane remains closed at the construction site while restoration work is completed.

One alternating lane of traffic will be maintained via a temporary traffic signal.

Paving is expected to begin Wednesday and the roadway is expected to be fully reopened by Friday.
