New Name For Houghton County Medical Care Facility

The Houghton County Medical Care Facility is now Canal View—Houghton County.

A vote to choose a new name was held last summer with Canal View being selected over a second choice of Waterway.

The Department of Health and Human Services approved of the name change as of July 1st.

The name may be different but Administrator Kim Salmi says the purpose of the facility remains the same, saying in a press release, “We remain committed to enhancing the health and well-being of the residents and employees.”

The name change follows extensive renovations to the facility, including a restaurant-style dining area.

The public will be given the opportunity to see the changes first hand when Canal View—Houghton County holds their Community Open House on September 14th from 1:00-4:00pm.

“We welcome the opportunity to show off the transformation and to thank the community for their support,” said Salmi.
