Munising Woman Hurt in Portage Township Crash

A Munising woman was injured in a three-car crash Friday morning on US-41 between Houghton and Chassell.

State Police troopers say a northbound vehicle driven by 20-year-old Jake Patchin from Lake Linden was slowing to make a left-hand turn when it was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Laura Denny.

The impact drove Patchin’s vehicle into the southbound lane, where it was struck by a vehicle driven by 68-year-old Kenneth Dorman of Houghton.

The incident occurred around 10:30, near the Broemer Road intersection.

Troopers say Denny was taken by ambulance to UP Health System-Portage for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening. She was also cited for speeding.

No injuries were reported to the other two drivers.

It was raining at the time, and the Michigan State Police reminds drivers to allow greater stopping distance during inclement weather.
