The unemployment rate fell in every county in Michigan last month.
Non-seasonally adjusted rates were sampled before the General Motors strike began.
The statewide rate came in at 3.7 percent… a half-point lower than in August, but two-tenths of a point above the rate one year ago.
The unadjusted rate in the Upper Peninsula is 4.0 percent – nearly a full point lower than August, but four-tenths of a point higher than last year.
Grand Rapids has the lowest unemployment rate in the state. The highest rate is in the northeastern Lower Peninsula.
