KBIC Pushes Forward on Baraga County Recycling

Efforts continue to give Baraga County residents more opportunities to recycle.

Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Environmental Response Specialist Serene Gauthier provided an update at the L’Anse Village Council meeting Monday night.

Gauthier said the Tribe is proceeding with plans to offer motor oil recycling…

The KBIC has also received a grant to develop an electronics recycling program…

Both of those programs will be open to all Baraga County residents. Gauthier said there will be no charge to bring in used oil. There might be a small fee for electronics.

Gauthier also brought council members a drop-off canister for small batteries. It will be set up for public use at the Village Hall. As the Tribe gets more of them, they’ll be placed in other locations, as well.
