Recreation Passport Price to Increase

The cost of an automobile Michigan Recreation Passport will go up this year.

The increase from $11.00 to $12.00 is the first since the Passport program began seven years ago.

The hike is actually required by law – the Recreation Passport funding model ties the rate to the Consumer Price Index, to make sure it keeps up with inflation.

The increase only affects automobiles. It will take effect March 1st. The fees for motorcycles, mopeds and commercial vehicles will remain the same.

The Passport program grants unlimited access to Michigan State Parks for included vehicles. The fee is paid when the vehicle’s license plate is purchased or renewed.
