State Senator Faces Second Sexual Harassment Charge

A Michigan lawmaker is facing a second charge of sexual harassment.

Democratic Senator Mallory McMorrow of Royal Oak says Republican Senator Peter Lucido of Shelby Township made crude remarks and touched her inappropriately during a capitol orientation session after the November, 2018 election. Lucido denies that.

Lucido is already being investigated by the Senate for an exchange with capitol reporter Allison Donahue, in which he allegedly suggested that she could have a “lot of fun” with a visiting group of high school boys, and that they could have a “lot of fun” with her.

Lucido initially apologized for the Donahue remarks, then changed his story, and said he had been misquoted.

McMorrow says she had been prepared to let her situation slide, until she learned of Donahue’s experience.

Republican leaders in the state Senate say they take the allegations seriously, and outside counsel will be brought in to lead the investigation.
