County Board Meeting Recap

The Houghton County Board of Commissioners met last night and they had a very productive meeting. The board approved the revenue sharing resolution which involves the state’s surplus budget allocation. Commissioner Scott Ala says it would be great to bring in some money to the county.

The board also approved projects for the Houghton County Housing Rehab Program, which Ala says helps low income families.

He was also excited about the board allowing Michigan Tech to participate in a energy efficiency competition that would greatly benefit the community but it won’t come easy.

A proposal for the county brokers to create a business plan for the prospective DHS building in the Copper Country Mall was also discussed.
