Secretary Of State Benson Comments On Election Security

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has announced security for Michigan’s presidential primary, has never been stronger.

Benson also warned due to new rules in absentee voting, coupled with new security measures, election results, will most likely come later, than in elections past.

My administration has done significant work to bolster our election security, and will continue to do so through the November election cycle and beyond.”

Benson has hired the state’s first election security expert, and joined ERIC, the national Electronic Registration Information Center, and worked with the Department of Homeland Security, to review and test Michigan’s election system.

Due to an increase in absentee ballots, upwards of 80%, Benson called for patience, as these changes increase the workload for clerks, on an already busy day.

Benson also added the fact results will come later in the day, in no way suggests errors or otherwise fraudulent activity has occurred.
