Governor Whitmer Updates State

Governor Whitmer held a press conference yesterday afternoon, to update the state on the battle against COVID-19 pandemic.

She said this in regards to the state’s testing capacity.

The Personal Protection Equipment situation is improving as well.

She also pointed out the number of patients in the hospital, due to the virus, has declined, over the last 10 days.

She also hinted a short extension of the “Stay Home Stay Safe” Executive Order may be needed.

State employees from various departments have also been laid off, for the next 10 days.

Those who have been laid off, will retain their health insurance, and are automatically enrolled for unemployment.

Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, Michigan’s Chief Health Officer said the state remains ready to help during the crisis.

To date, Michigan now has 33,966 confirmed cases, with 2,813 deaths.

On the plus side, 3,237 Michiganders have recovered.

The Western Upper Peninsula has 6 confirmed cases, with 1 death.
