NFL Foregoes International Games – Tuesday Sports Wrap

NFL

The National Football League will not play any games on foreign soil this year. The league is set to release its 2020 season schedule on Thursday. That schedule will be based on the premise that games will be able to be staged beginning in the early fall, even if fans will not be able to attend. The Super Bowl is set for February 7th. One concession has been made to the COVID-19 pandemic – the six international games that had been planned will, instead, be played in the U.S.

Meanwhile, football fans are mourning the death of legendary coach Don Shula. Shula led the Baltimore Colts and the Miami Dolphins to 347 victories – the most of any head coach in league history. His 1972 Dolphins team was the last to conclude a perfect NFL season. Don Shula was 90.

Finlandia

The Finlandia University women’s hockey team has gained a recruit. Abby Dawson is a forward from the Calgary area. She played high school hockey at the Pilot Mound Collegiate Academy in southern Manitoba.
