Baraga Telephone Company Selected As Finalist To Expand Broadband Service In Keweenaw County

Baraga Telephone Company has been selected as a finalist for a state grant to expand broadband to unserved areas in Keweenaw County.

The announcement came from Representative Greg Markkanen.

The proposed project would expand service to areas of Lake Medora, Lac La Belle, Bete Gris and Gay.

Markkanen also had this to say.

Comments and objections will now be accepted by the Department of Technology, Management and Budget until July 27th, when the grant awards will be finalized.

Baraga Telephone Company noted without the grant, revenue generated by customers would not have supported the capital expenditure.
