The Western Upper Peninsula Health Department Changes Reporting Format For COVID-19

The Western Upper Peninsula Health Department will no longer follow the current reporting format, as it relates to COVID-19 cases.

This, from a press release sent late yesterday.

Health Officer Kate Beer said “As community testing has increased, the current reporting system is no longer an accurate representation of the total testing being done in the area.”

Starting this week, they will begin using the State of Michigan’s MI Safe Start Map, as their primary source for reporting testing statistics.

Beer went on to say they would continue to report on individual county level positives, recoveries and any deaths as they occur, and as a weekly summary every Thursday, which can be found on their website.
