Governor Whitmer Extends Executive Order Allowing Remote Meetings

Governor Whitmer has extended her Executive Order, which allows public hearings and meetings, to be done remotely.

Whitmer said by allowing for remote public meetings, people can still practice safe social distancing, while meetings remain open, accessible and transparent to the public.

The order calls for public bodies to ensure two way communication for members and the public to be able to hear and communicate with each other while speaking, provide adequate public notice for a hearing, post a public meeting notice on their website, allow participants to record or broadcast the meeting, and have a public comment section during the meeting.

The order runs through July 31st.
