The COVID-19 pandemic has forced a tuition increase at Northern Michigan University, but many students won’t feel it.
The NMU Board of Trustees this morning raised tuition for resident undergraduates by $215 per semester – that’s nearly 4 percent.
However, the board reallocated some financial assistance resources to provide a $100 allowance for each student. Many students will also be able to take advantage of a $115 stipend taken from federal COVID-19 relief aid funds.
The tuition increase and some budget cuts will help offset $2 million Northern has invested in COVID-19-related safety measures.
