One Year Anniversary of Hockeyville

It’s been one year since the world’s eyes were on the Calumet Colosseum for Hockeyville.

Hockeyville is a contest sponsored by Kraft Foods, and picks a local hockey rink to host an NHL pre-season game.

Our own John Carroll from 97-7 The Wolf, who helped bring the game to Calumet, shared thoughts on the experience.

“The St Louis Blues came to town, and they had just won the Stanley Cup, so we got the Stanley Cup Champions playing a hometown favorite, the Detroit Red Wings. So it was an extra special game for the town, because of the interest of the Stanley Cup Champions and the Wings. And the game was also televised on NBC, so everyone across the country got to see Calumet and the Calumet Colosseum.”

The Wings won the game 4-1.
