Houghton City Council Recap

Lots of business getting done at the Houghton City Council meeting last night. A public hearing for the DNR Trust Fund Grant Application regarding a piece of property on 7th Avenue near Franklin Road was scheduled for March 12th and City Manager Eric Waara says plans are already in place on how to use the land.

Nothing out of the ordinary on the Transit Budget proposed for the 2014-2015 fiscal year. Also, the council approved a proposal to increase the funds provided to the UPSET policing organization, which Waara says is a good move for both parties.

UPSET typically received $2000 but now that amount would increase to $3000, with the extra funds coming out of the city’s TV franchise fund.
