Hancock looking for applicants for new city board

The City of Hancock passed sweeping changes to its rental ordinances last year, and those are beginning to be implemented. An official posting is asking for applicants for the new Rental Code Board of Appeals. The five-member board is designed to have input from all perspectives regarding rental units in the city. Separate spots are set aside for a resident of Hancock, a current renter, and an individual who holds a license for a rental property within the city. Those representatives will join a member of the Hancock Fire Department and a council member in hearing from applicants. A link to an application is here.

In addition to the new panel, Hancock increased fees to review rental applications from a $5 flat rate. It also expanded its monitoring of AirBnB and other short-term rental properties.
