Small business grant applications due by noon Friday

Correction: Article originally listed the deadline as 12:00 AM Friday for the survival grants. It is actually 12:00 PM.

The application period for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Small Business Survival Grant program ends tomorrow. In total, there is a pool of $55 million available for COVID-19 relief to struggling companies. Those that have been forced into a full closure can receive up to $20,000. Businesses that are partially closed, like restaurants who are doing takeout or delivery only rather than indoor dining, are eligible for $15,000.

Additional requirements are that a business must have a workforce between one and 100 employees, is able to prove an income loss, and is in need of working capital. A link to apply is here.

At the federal level, the Small Business Administration has opened a second round of applications for its Economic Injury Disaster Loan program. Businesses in designated low income areas can get up to a $10,000 cash advance. A map of the areas which are eligible is here and you can apply at this link.
